CMU offers multiple DESE-approved education programs, each leading to Missouri teacher certification in a specific grade range or specialty area.
Elementary Education (Grades 1–6)
Prepares students to teach core subjects in elementary school classrooms. Focuses on child development, instructional methods, and classroom management.
Early Childhood Education
Focuses on early learning, development, and instructional strategies for young children in early education settings.
Middle School Education
Prepares students to teach approved subject-specific content at the middle school level while developing instructional and classroom management skills. Middle School Science is not offered.
Special Education
Prepares educators to support students with diverse learning needs through inclusive instructional practices and individualized education strategies.

CMU’s education certification programs prepare graduates to pursue teaching roles aligned with their chosen certification pathway. Through a combination of coursework and hands-on classroom experience, students build the instructional and professional skills needed to support learning in Missouri schools or to continue their education through graduate-level study.
